History of Kate Smith's Sunshine 1 Chris-Craft Kate Smith loved the outdoors and especially the beautiful clear waters of Lake Placid in the Adirondack Mountains. Her favorite pastime was touring the lake in her 24-foot, six cylinder Chris Craft named "Sunshine 1". Kate Smith purchased her now famous craft called the "Queen Of The Boat Show" immediately after discovering it at the 1938 exposition in New York City. The legendary singer fell in love with the Chris Craft's beautiful lines and had it trailered to the Adirondacks the very next day! For many decades this famous Chris-Craft has been lovingly cared for and beautifully maintained. Today this classic boat, Sunshine 1, can still be seen touring the waters of Lake Placid where Kate Smith spent so many summers at her beloved camp. | |||||||
